Liferay 6.0.6: Manage Settings

PRE-REQUISITE: You need to create virtual host record  www.helloworld.com before following the steps below. This can be done by adding “www.helloworld.com” in the file C:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts after the string “127.0.0.1 localhost “

1. 1) Extract Liferay Tomcat Bundle to c:\z\lifetom1\ and run liferay portal by typing startup command (Follow this tutorial http://setup-steps.blogspot.com/2013/07/liferay-tomcat-bundle-606.html)

3. 2) Click Sign in.
   
4. 
   
5. 3) Sign in using username/password as test@liferay.com/test.
   
6. 
   
7. 4) If you are requested to provide middle name, simple type “middle”
   

MANAGE SETTINGS

1. 
   
2. 5) Go to menu Manage/Settings.
   
3. 
   
4. 6) Public Virtual Host and Friendly URL. Save.
5. (For Private Virtual Host, you may type www.helloworld.com/secure)
   
6. 
   
7. 7) Wait for the portal to restart. Browse http://www.helloworld.com:8080/
   
8. 
   
9. 8) Browse http://localhost:8080/web/helloworld/home
   
10. 
    
11. 9) The data is kept in the file [liferay_home]\data\hsql\lportal.log
