Eclipse: Install Android Developer Tools (ADT)


This tutorial guides the user to install Android Developer Tools (ADT) downloadable at http://dl.google.com/android/ADT-21.1.0.zip or Google Search it.

1) Run Eclipse (This tutorial uses Eclipse Juno).

2) Go to menu Help/Install New Software ...


3) Click Add.. . Locate the ADT-xx.x.x.zip file. Click Ok.


4) Tick Developer Tools. Optionally tick NDK Plugins.


5) Untick Contact all update sites during install to find required software. Click Next.


6) Review the items to be installed. Click Next.


7) Tick  Accept the terms of the license agreements. Click Finish.

8) Override Security Warning (if any).


9) Restart Eclipse.


10) After you have restarted, go to menu Help/About Eclipse and check Android icons.


11) Go to menu Windows/Preferences.


12) Click Android. Click Browse. Locate the SDK folder. Check that the right Android Target Platform appears in the list. Click Apply.


13) Restart Eclipse.

14) Go to menu Windows/Open Perspective/Java.


15) After Java Perspective is active, go to menu Window. You should see the item Android Virtual Device Manager. You need to setup a virtual device before testing an Android application. Follow the guide on this link, http://basic-steps.blogspot.com/2013/02/android-building-your-first-app.html .

Mac OS X - Install Virtual Mac OS X into VMware Fusion 5


Having a Virtual OS X is useful particularly for trying out new software or settings without affecting the actual   OS. We need VMware Fusion (Google Search) and Mac OS X Mountain Lion image (Google Search) for this purpose.

1) Install VMware Fusion 5.

2) Go to menu File/New.

3) In the New Virtual Machine Assistant, Select Continue without disc.


4) Next, select Use operating system installation disc or image:
(Browse for the location of OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion .dmg)


Select Continue.


5) Select the appropriate Operating System and Version. Continue.



6) Confirm the settings. Click Finish.



7) Set the file name and file location for the Virtual Machine.


8) Start the Mac OS X Virtual Machine


9) Pre-installation will take some time.


10) Set the main language for the Mac OS X.


11) Select Reinstall OS X.


12) Confirm the Installation Setup process.


13) Agree to the terms of the software license agreement.



14) Select the disk where you want to install OS X.


15) Hard Disk preparation will take place and computer will be restarted.


16) Computer restarts and OS X is installed to the Hard Disk approximately in 21 minutes time.


17) Install Succeeded. Your computer must restart to complete the installation.


18) The computer restarts. During the first time running, user needs to set the initial settings. Select the country.



19) Select Keyboard Layout.


20) Transfer information from another PC. You may select Not Now.


21) Setup the iCloud. You may skip this step.






22) Create the computer user account.


23) Select appropriate time zone.


24) Your Mac is set up and ready to use.

Installing the MVS Turnkey OS
1. Decompress the turnkey-mvs-3.zip using your favourite Unzip utility like Winrar, Winzip etc into C:\MVS_Turnkey_Image.
2. Extract the turnkey-mvs-3.iso file using WinRAR utility into C:\Turnkey_MVS.
3. Start the Command Prompt on your computer. CD to the Turnkey_MVS Directory.
4. Enter the command setup to start the installation.
You will be prompted to select one of the setup options.
5. Enter Option 1 for MVS Turkey System Standard Setup.
6. Say 'Y' to install Hercules.
7. Press ENTER key for the default setup of Hercules. 
8. Again press the ENTER Key to accept the default settings for Hercules install.
9. Enter 'Y' to install the GUI mode of Hercules.
10. Say 'Y' to Cygwin Support File Installation.
11. Say 'N' to Terminal Emulator Installation.
12. Type C:\MVS_38j as the installation path for the Turnkey MVS System.
13. The next screen prompts you to enter the DASD Location. Choose option 3.
14. Enter 'Y' to copy the MVS Source Volumes.
15. Press ENTER key to copy the SMP Volumes.
16. Press ENTER Key to copy the CBT Tape Volumes.
17. Press ENTER to copy the Starter System.
18. The next set of questions asks for some operation parameters of Hercules.
19. Press ENTER Key to proceed with MVS Turnkey Installation.
20. Once the installation is complete, you must press the ENTER key to continue.
21. You are prompted to enter the number of Console(s). A master console, is where you enter MVS OS commands. Press ENTER to accept the default value(s). A 3270 Console, is where you would login to a TSO session.
22. Enter the Master Catalog Password SECRET.
The setup is now complete.
